Many people see the new moon as a time for new beginnings: in folk belief a wish made then grows with the moon. Some even show their money to the new moon.
Why the new moon?
The new moon starts the cycle: from that day the moon grows, and by folk logic everything you start that day grows with it. That is why wishes, plans and new projects are traditionally linked to this time.
How to make a new moon wish
The modern version: on the day of the new moon or within two days of it, write your wishes on paper in the present tense, as if they have already come true. The folk version is simpler: show your wallet or a coin to the new moon and ask it to multiply your money.
