The left hand is thought of as the receiving hand, so an itch there means income. Some add that the stronger the itch, the more money will come. A pleasant theory, isn't it?

Folk tradition has a recipe for this too. People say you should not scratch, but close your hand into a fist and put it in your pocket so the money does not run away.

Why does it really itch?
