A bird hit my window: what does it mean?
bird tapping on window meaning · bird flew into window
- bird
- window
- news
- superstition
In folk belief a bird that hits or taps on your window brings news. Many see it as a sign that someone far away is thinking of you.
What does folk belief say?
The bird is said to bring a message: someone may call, write or turn up unexpectedly. Some families are cautious about it, but mostly it is simply a sign of news.
Why do birds tap on glass?
Birds often see their own reflection in the glass and take it for a rival, especially in spring. That is why the same bird can visit several days in a row.
How to help the bird
If a bird has hit the glass and is dazed, place it somewhere quiet and warm, such as a box, and it will usually fly off within minutes. Stickers or a curtain on the window help prevent collisions.
