A frog in a dream symbolises transformation and change. In folk tradition it foretells gain or guests, while loud croaking means gossip and a lot of talk.
What does a frog mean in folk tradition?
In folk tradition a green frog means luck and unexpected gain. Loud croaking is believed to mean that people are talking about you, or that noisy guests will arrive soon.
What do psychologists say?
Psychologists see the frog as a symbol of transformation: a tadpole turns into a frog, and you too are moving from one stage to the next. The fairy-tale frog that turns into a prince reminds us that a strange situation can turn out well.
What was happening with the frog?
The frog's behaviour is the clue.
- Catching a frog: a lucky chance
- Many frogs: a lot of talk and guests
- A jumping frog: a quick change
- A frog in the house: news in family matters
What to ask yourself
Which change are you in right now? What do you see as merely strange when it could be the start of something good?
