Mercury retrograde 2026 and 2027: exact dates and what it means
Three times a year, for about three weeks, Mercury seems to move backwards. It is an optical effect: seen from Earth, the planet appears to turn back across the sky. Astrology calls this Mercury retrograde and links it to temporary confusion in communication, technology, travel and agreements.
Mercury retrograde 2026
Dates are calculated for Tbilisi time:
- 26 February to 21 March, in Pisces.
- 29 June to 24 July, in Cancer.
- 24 October to 13 November, in Scorpio.
The last retrograde of the year starts on 24 October and runs to 13 November. In Scorpio it favours revisiting old secrets, unfinished conversations and shared money.
Mercury retrograde 2027
- 9 February to 3 March, from Pisces back into Aquarius.
- 10 June to 5 July, from Cancer back into Gemini.
- 7 October to 28 October, from Scorpio back into Libra.
What Mercury retrograde means
Mercury is the planet of thought, words and connection. When it is retrograde, tradition says:
- letters and messages get lost or misread more often;
- devices, phones and computers break unexpectedly;
- travel plans change and flights are delayed;
- people from the past come back, often former partners.
What is worth doing
- finish what you started rather than rushing into something new;
- review and double-check texts, plans and budgets;
- back up your files and check addresses and dates twice;
- give old ideas and old friends a second chance.
What is better postponed
- signing an important contract;
- buying expensive devices or a car;
- a serious conversation that could be misunderstood.
